The members of the winning team from the left: Frida (Sweden), Patricia (Latvia), Ingrid and Elida (Norway). This team had among other ideas planned a rainbow week at the Market, focusing on a new colour and some special goods and arrangements each day of the week.
The students had been very clever working with this task, in groups with three nationalities. The market is very charming, but has a good opportunity for improvement, including:
better signs and information to foreigners
more systematic placement of the stalls
better parking possibilities
more clean and hygienic handling and positioning of the goods
The second day the Swedes arrived in the afternoon and soon after their arrival the students were divided in working groups and the Gründercamp task was revealed:
VISIT RIGA CENTRAL MARKET
a) Find a problem and provide a solution!
b) Find a good idea and introduce others with it!
This was a practical and very interesting task and the students immidiately started the work!
The first day the Norwegians and the Latvians were introduced to a business strategic game at the Bank Academy. Through this game we learnt a lot about Latvian commodities and business.
Later the same day we had a session at Riga State Gymnasium No 3, with “Titan”, a business simulation game.
The second day we played the game “Time for business” at University of Latvia.
Week 9 we finally met again, 11 students from Latvia, 7 students from Sweden and 14 students from Norway. And 4 Latvian teachers, 2 Swedish teachers and 1 Norwegian teacher. All together we were 32 students and 7 teachers looking forward to get to know other entrepreneurs. And excited about thinking of the Gründercamp task that should be revealed soon…
The prize was guided tour with Nina Westby Ranum, Manager in the new innovative area “Mathallen” (food hall) in Oslo. The winners also had a lunch at PShotels (social entrepreneurs) and was given a present card with 500 kroner to spend in Mathallen.
